Several cities around the metroplex are putting programs into place in an attempt to educated their citizens on the importance of picking up after their dogs and about water quality. It is no longer acceptable to leave dog poop laying around, thinking it makes good fertilizer. Dog poop actually contains bacteria from your dogs digestive system that can be passed along to plants. A person can become ill from eating fruits or vegetables from a plant “fertilized” with dog poop.
These program guides are helpful because they explain the health risks associated with dog poop for pets and people, how pet waste is a water contaminant and what dog oweners can do to help!
As an owner of a pet waste removal company, a nurse and a mom, I also am interest in educating people on the importance of picking up after their pets. It my goal to become more involved with our community to help spread the word.
Please remember to DOO Your Part!!!
